A pergola is an outdoor shade structure featuring a lattice roof design intended to give partial sun blockage for a patio area. Lattices and arbors are also known as pergolas. In Houston, shade arbor construction is desirable because it is a less expensive shading option than building a covered patio. Most pergolas are attached to a home but they can also be built as a freestanding garden structure.
We can install either aluminum or cedar pergolas to perfectly compliment your Houston, TX backyard. Open lattice roofs allow you to perfectly control the amount of sunlight you wish to have. An Alumawood lattice can even offer support for creeping vegetation such as vines. Best of all, an outdoor arbor costs much less than a traditional cover.

"Lone Star Patio Builders was the right choice for us! With a backyard that desperately needed some shade, their pergola options and entire attitude about making it a simple and streamlined process intrigued us. With a very tight space to work with, they worked very closely with us to lay out the pergolas shape, discuss finishes, and even added an exterior electrical outlet. They truly work with you to make sure your vision for the final product comes to life and work to ensure your needs are met (and exceeded). Our pergola was started and finished in 2 days. They even left our yard in tip-top shape and ready for use upon completion. My wife and I are very happy with the product and with a very competitive price we will definitely recommend them to anyone else looking to make an addition to their outdoor space."

The cost of a new aluminum pergola is about $38.00 per square foot for a simple design. The price is a little more for wood materials. If stain is requested it will typically add $7.00 per square foot to a project total.
Fans that are “wet rated” can be installed on any new pergola.
The most common type of roof on a new pergola is polycarbonate sheeting. It comes in several colors and is a very popular choice to keep out rain & excess sun.
The amount of shade underneath a pergola is directly related to how far apart the rafters and 2×2 materials are spaced. A typical spacing is 24″ for the rafters and 2 inches of seperation for the 2×2’s. These can all be adjusted to create the exact percentage each Client prefers.
